My Best Helper

The unending project

OMG. Why do I do it? Why do I try to clean my kids' rooms? I feel like Cinderella's plump, aging sister - you know the one....she married the mechanic and her roots always show? She weighs more than when she last gave birth? She tries to sound happy and positive on the phone, but if you listen closely, you can hear that she just spotted something really gross under the table or she's in tune with the washing machine thats making a strange (and expensive) sound. That's me. Its Sunday and I'm kicking a path through my oldest's room. I don't even know if he's in here. There's food though, lots of chip bags and candy wrappers. And it appears he never puts his dirty laundry in the laundry room, so he can hunker down in warmth in the colder months....hmmm....is it too early for a drink?

School days

School days are fast approaching! What a quick, rainy summer here in Maine! It's been a true adventure juggling work, vacation, summer camp and day to day entertainment of my kids....but in three days...they're back! I have unashamedly always taken the first week of school off for my own personal mom vacation....They only go two days this week, so why throw work into the mix.....Anyhow...I've managed to put together a pretty solid school wardrobe that didn't break the budget and inevitably parts of the wardrobe ends up in the school lost and found boxes...but the kids will look great for about two weeks and then I'll be back to examining the odd hole and stain here and there and just praying for something that can be turned inside out and still look good.....
While they're opening their mathbooks and negotiating the lunch lines...I plan to put on my favorite Bonnie Raitt cd and repaint the kitchen....
